While it is commonly known as an industrial center, New Jersey also has large tourism, gaming, and agriculture industries. Despite past profitiability, New Jersey had its shares of economic troubles during the past couple of years. In turn a number of industry sectors, such as education, hospitality, construction, and more have been affected.

Yet, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Although the jobless rate has hit historic highs in the past year, the New Jersey Department of Labor still projects that the overall job market should grow by 6.2 percent between 2006 and 2016. As a profitable economy returns, education and professional service industries should see significant employment growth during the 2006 to 2016 period.
