The FCC School of Nursing campus is a modern facility with bright spacious classrooms and well-equipped clinical laboratories. During the program students will have access to current technology and realistic high-tech simulation “manikins”. Nursing students will also complete their clinical rotations in some of South Florida’s premier hospitals and healthcare facilities. Experienced nursing faculty in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies developed the curriculum for the nursing program. We provide an opportunity for our graduates to experience fulfilling lifelong careers as members of the nursing profession. 

Generic full-time RN option: a four-semester Associate of Science Degree program limited to students who meet the admissions requirements, including academic pre-requisites or equivalents.

Transition LPN to RN option: a three-semester Associate of Science Degree transition program for students who are already licensed LPNs and who meet the admissions requirements, including academic pre-requisites or equivalents.

The objective of this program is to provide students with introductory knowledge in both technical and administrative skills. The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level administrative positions such as medical office managers, executive medical administrative assistants, hospital admissions coordinators, medical record managers, and entry level administrative positions in clinics, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

This degree level program provides students with general education courses as well as program specific coursework in areas including: medical terminology, computer applications, processing of medical records, billing and insurance forms. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the health industry laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and regulatory bodies that govern the healthcare professions, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO. Courses also provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate effective communication, customer relations, and organizational and administrative skills.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to prepare students to pursue entry-level employment as Computer Network Engineers. The program is designed to prepare students with a variety of skills including troubleshooting, analyzing, designing and implementing upgrades on popular network operating systems, as well as computer maintenance and repair. Coursework is also geared towards preparing students to define, analyze and find system resolutions along with making enhancements to network operating systems.

Diploma Program - 12 Months / 1200 Clock hours

The objective of the 1200 hour Barbering program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue entry level employment as Barbers. The program is designed to introduce students to both technical and theoretical concepts with the main focus on haircutting, shaving and design.  Barbers use their learned skills for entry level work in various settings, such as barbershops or salon environment.

A students kit is issued to each of the students at the beginning of the program which includes all the quality professional tools needed to train. These tools and implements allow the student to be job ready upon graduation.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to pursue entry-level employment in the health care industry as Patient Care Technicians. Students in the Patient Care Technician program are instructed in, among other things, patient assistance, geriatric care and nursing assistance. With a focus on patient care skills and life-long learning, graduates of this Diploma Program will be positioned to have the skills and dispositions needed to effectively meet workplace demands.

Prior to graduation, students are required to complete a 6-week clinical rotation in a health care setting, which provides hands-on training in the field. Clinical sites require students to have completed a criminal background check and medical examination and may also require a drug screen, proof of immunizations or other requirements. 

Qualified graduates may take the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) state certification exam through the Florida Board of Nursing or the National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) exam offered by the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT). However, the College cannot guarantee a student’s eligibility to take these exams, pass these exams or that they will become licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing. Eligibility may be affected by a variety of factors, including age, high school or GED credentials, and clearing a criminal background check. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire into and understand all eligibility requirements.

Computer Security and Network Technicians install, configure and troubleshoot local area and wide area networks and maintain network security infrastructure that is critical to today’s business environment. Their responsibilities encompass connecting the entire system of workstations, printers and modems to the Internet, email and other application servers via fiber optic and other types of cable. In addition students will learn a variety of skills such as implementation of upgrades on popular network operating systems to prevent intrusive attacks as well as computer repair and maintenance. These technicians must keep their knowledge current with regard to the advances being made in convergence, bandwidth, speed of data transmission and operating systems.

Upon completion, the graduate will possess a working knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, human diseases, pharmacology, basic medical office procedures and clinical medical assisting skills. Students will learn front office procedures such as handling patient accounts and records, word processing, and scheduling of patients. The students will also learn back office procedures such as taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, and performing selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician. The medical assistant technician will also learn basic medical laboratory and X-ray procedures.

The objective of the Cosmetology Program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and practical hands-on experience to pursue entry-level employment as professional Cosmetologists. Florida Career College’s experienced faculty uses modern equipment and professional grade supplies to train students for a career in the cosmetology industry. The program is taught in curriculum specific classrooms and our practical training areas were designed to replicate a real-world cosmetology work environment. The curriculum is intended to develop students’ technical skills, as well as offer personal professional development. Areas of instruction include a wide range of beauty services, such as: haircutting, hair coloring, hair extensions, cleaning and styling wigs, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, facials and waxing.

Prior to graduation, students are required to complete the full 1200 hours of training and a State Board Review course to prepare them for the State of Florida Board of Cosmetology Exam. Successful completion of the program is required in order to apply for a cosmetology license in Florida. However, the College cannot guarantee a student’s eligibility to take the exam, or that they will pass the exam or become licensed by the Florida Board of Cosmetology. All healthcare facilities, doctors offices and clinics need front office staff to assist incoming patients, set appointments and handle various aspects of the billing process. The Medical Front Office and Billing program provides students with a solid professional foundation in the medical front office that enables them to become vital members of the health care team. Students will be able to contribute to the overall financial and reimbursement process of any health care facility. Graduates will possess the skills to perform work in a small facility like a doctor’s office of within a larger hospital system. In addition, students will acquire a working knowledge of billing systems, government regulations and third-party payer requirements that could lead to positions that specialize in medical coding and billing.

The objective of this program is to provide basic knowledge and skills in areas of therapeutic massage to prepare students to pursue entry-level employment as Massage Therapists. Coursework in the program includes instruction in massage techniques and modalities, as well as basic anatomy, physiology and pathology. The program is also designed to instruct students in legal and ethical aspects of massage.

This program includes a Licensure Examination Review course to assist students preparing to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEX), provided by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Successful completion of this exam is required in order to apply for licensure to practice massage therapy in Florida. However, the College cannot guarantee a student’s eligibility to take the exam, that they will pass the exam, or become licensed by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy.
