Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. These tasks require both interpersonal and technical skills.

At Fortis, our dental assistant program will provide you with hands-on strategies and techniques to work in the treatment or operation room directly with the dentist. Students will be shown how to work chair-side as dentists examine and treat patients, as well as dental specialty practices Dental Assistants can work in private and group dental practices, mobile dental units, insurance companies, hospitals, nursing homes, dental school clinics, and public and private health facilities. The construction management program is designed to prepare the student for an entry level position in building construction with an emphasis on construction management. This course will cover such topics as safety OSHA regulations, framing, concrete construction, masonry, interior and exterior finishes, blueprint reading, math for the building trades, estimating, remodeling, site preparation and computer home design. This course will also include classes in business such as small business management, accounting, and technical writing. In the Salon Management program at Fortis Institute Erie, students are instructed in managment and technical subjects pertinent to the entire field of cosmetology.  Students will be taught by experienced instructors on how to manage a salon and how to teach cosmetology related subjects to employees. The Pivot Point philosophy of hair sculpture and design, color and perming, as well as nails and skin are taught throughout the program.

Our Salon Management program taught at our campus in Erie, Pennsylvania strives to develop each student's communication and human relations abilities because these skills are critical to being successful in the beauty and wellness industry.  The program includes general education courses such as psychology, public speaking, and computer usage. Students will receive skills-based instruction for client-therapist relations, promotional techniques, business practices and communication with clients. The skills acquired within the course will be of interest and use in the current trend of full service spa salons.

The Welding Technology program is designed to train individuals for entry into the field of welding as industrial welders, welding apprentices or check welders. The Fortis welding training programs in Georgia and Ohio instruct students in mathematics and welding print reading in order to enhance their understanding of the basic requirements of the job. Welding symbols are also studied as well as the methods of destructive and non-destructive testing used in welding to determine what constitutes a quality weld.
