Surgical Technology Programs
Surgical Technology
This program is designed to prepare the student with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to gain employment as a surgical technician. Students will study all aspects within the field of perioperative services, including but not limited to, medical law and ethics, perioperative environments, pharmacology, sterilization, anatomy and physiology, sterile technique OSHA regulations, anesthesia, instrumentation, communication skills, medical terminology, and procedures within the medical specialties.
The expected outcome of this program is to provide the graduate with the ability to obtain entry-level employment in a variety of perioperative environments, such as surgical units, endoscopy units, sterile processing, surgi-centers and surgeon's offices.

Pharmacy Tech
Pharmacy technology is a vital part of the healthcare
delivery system. Right now, with new drug stores popping up in
growing urban and suburban areas, plus new medications hitting the
market, properly trained pharmacy technicians could look forward
to busy careers.Pharmacists rely on Pharmacy Technicians to help
them safely dispense medications and other healthcare products
that cure illnesses, ease pain and save lives. Upon completion of
the Harris School of Business Pharmacy Technician program, you
will be prepared to assist pharmacists in a variety of retail or
hospital settings.

Multi-Skill Health Technician
Basic training for a Multi-Skill Health Technician is provided by the school's 750-hour program. This program is designed to prepare students in all phases of cardiovascular technology, as well as phlebotomy by obtaining blood samples by capillary or venipuncture of individuals. Multi-Skilled Health Technicians administer electrocardiograms as well as assist physicians with collecting and handling blood samples. They are also involved with various aspects of Patient Care. The expected outcome of this program is to provide the graduate with the ability to obtain an entry level position as a Phlebotomist, an Electrocardiograph Technician or a Multi-Skilled Health Technician in Patient Care.

Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program is designed to equip the student with no previously related background with basic medical assistant skills (terminology, vital signs venipuncture, First Aid) and specialized skills: EKG, medical lab procedures, office procedures, etc.
Medical Assistants help physicians examine and treat patients and perform most of the administrative tasks needed to keep an office running smoothly, as well as care for hospital and nursing home patients.
The expected outcome of the program is to provide the graduate with the ability to obtain an entry-level position as a Medical Assistant, Medical Office Assistant or Hospital Assistant.

This well-rounded program provides you with computer
literacy, a combination of professional skills, and specialized
training in Legal Terminology and Office Procedures - to prepare
you for a Legal Secretarial career.
Accounting Technology Programs
Computerized Accounting Technology
This intensive, highly computer-oriented program teaches
accounting principles along with a variety of software programs,
with emphasis on computerized accounting applications and includes
an introduction to payroll procedures and a review of business
letter writing.
Dental Assisting Programs
Dental Assistant
The Dental Assistant program prepares graduates to assist in a variety of dental office procedures. This program gives students a background in dental anatomy, pathology, and terminology, and includes the study of dental materials, radiography and chairside assisting techniques. Graduates of the program will be trained and prepared to assist dentists with exams, perform a variety of dental procedures including instrument preparation, taking dental x-rays, conducting dental laboratory procedures, as well as reception and office management procedures.

Health Claims Specialist (medical billing & coding)
is an excellent career choice for those who want to become part of
the medical field but prefer not to work directly with patients on
a clinical level. There is a rapidly-expanding need for
individuals trained in medical billing and coding procedures.
Opportunities exist in hospitals, insurance companies,
doctors' offices, medical billing companies, group practices,
nursing homes, and other health organizations. This program also
prepares students for national certifications, a significant
advantage for Harris School graduates as they enter the workplace.
Nurse Assisting Programs
Certified Nursing Assistant
Today’s nursing' assistants provide important services to their patients and have the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. The Certified Nursing Assistant course will teach the student the fundamentals of the nursing assistant career utilizing classroom, clinical, and lab experiences. Through classroom and lab instruction, as well as clinical experience, in human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, safety and emergency procedures, and patient care, the student will develop the skills needed to address the client’s physical needs, feeding, bathing, and assistance with movement, safety, and patient privacy. This course will prepare the student to take the Delaware Certified Nurse Assistant Examination upon completion of the program.
