Graduates of the program are prepared to serve as supervisors, managers, analyst, logisticians, and other leadership roles in the logistics industry.
Medical Assisting Programs
Medical Assistant
This program provides students with the skills necessary to be proficient in both front and back office procedures. Students receive hands-on experience so that they are able to assist physicians in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess vital signs, administer medication, operate an ECG machine, and perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by physicians. Medical Assistants are employed in physicians offices, medical clinics, laboratories, and other health agencies.

Medical Insurance Billing Coding Programs
Medical Reimbursement Technology
This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for billing medical professional services to insurance companies, maintaining patient accounts, and performing billing procedures for optimal claim reimbursement. The student will be trained to utilize medical office software programs to input patient insurance and registration data, manage health information files, schedule appointments, and submit electronic claims forms. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of compliance with state and federal regulations and managed care policies. A high degree of accuracy and a working knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, and treatments are important skills for this profession. Employment opportunities include physician's offices, clinics, inpatient care facilities, medical billing management companies, and insurance companies.

Paralegal
This program is designed to prepare students for a career as a legal assistant or paralegal. Career opportunities would include employment by an individual or institution performing legal work for which a lawyer is responsible. Students develop professional competence and the specialized skills necessary to effectively communicate and solve issues under the supervision of an attorney. The program prepares individuals to perform research, drafting, investigation, record-keeping and review, and related administrative functions under the supervision of an attorney. This includes instruction in legal research, drafting discovery and other legal documents, courthouse procedures, and legal specializations. Graduates of the program can pursue entry-level positions in the public and private sector and contribute to the advancement of the legal profession. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as provided by law.

The mission of this program is to provide students with a systems perspective of the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, and corrections. The program is designed to produce graduates who are able to utilize their systems perspective of all relevant aspects of the criminal justice system to create appropriate professional decision making at all levels of criminal justice. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates can pursue entry-level positions with local and regional law enforcement, correctional agencies, and other criminal justice organizations with eventual advancement to state and federal positions in all aspects of criminal justice. The major competencies of the criminal justice Bachelor degree graduate include knowledge of the criminal justice system and the law, the theoretical causes of criminality, the methods of criminal justice policy research, as well as aspects of professionalism and ethics for criminal justice practitioners.

The Health Care Management program provides medical students with an overview of accounting, marketing, finance, law and management to prepare them for managerial positions within the health care industry. Students will develop knowledge and skills in research, critical thinking, problem solving and current technology for application and use in a health care setting. Students will foster teamwork and leadership skills through participation in classroom activities. Professional ethics, and its application within the health care business environment, is also targeted.

This program provides a strong foundation in business management and human resources skill sets highly valued in today's competitive employment market. Human Resources courses will cover such topics as recruiting, compensation and benefits, training and development, labor relations, employee relations, and development of organizational policy and procedures. The program seeks to develop critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving knowledge and skills. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of professional ethics and its application to the business environment. Participation in classroom activities and student organizations will foster teamwork and leadership development skills. Course work is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management standard competencies to assist graduates in acquiring the foundational knowledge to sit for the PHR certification examination following two years of practical experience in the industry. Students who have completed the Human Resources AAS degree are invited to further enhance their knowledge and skills in order to seek managerial level positions within the Human Resources industry.

This program provides the essential instruction for general administrative support positions. Basic bookkeeping principles are included to enhance preparation for the clerical work many office assistants are expected to handle. After completion of this program, students may transfer all earned credits toward the Administrative Professional associate of applied science degree program.
