Have you always had a basic curiosity about how things work? Do you have an interest in mechanical and electrical operations and troubleshooting? If this describes you, Remington College's 24-month* Process Control Engineering Technology (PCET) associate's degree program offers you a chance to build on those fundamentals and gain the added prestige of an associate's degree in the multi-faceted field of process control technology.
Several of today's industrial, manufacturing, and production plants, both large and small, are looking for skilled individuals with specialized knowledge and hands-on skills. These technicians are relied on to control, monitor, and troubleshoot instrumentation boards, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, boilers and furnaces, controls, alarms, detection systems, switches, relays, and other equipment and tools that are integral to a plant's successful daily operation.
Remington College's well-rounded mix of classroom and hands-on training exposes you to several aspects of the wide-ranging process control technology field, including:
• Industry tools and equipment such as piping, tubing, hoses, fittings, turbines, motors and engines, power trains, and more
• Control room operations, including equipment startup, operation, and shutdown
• Instrumentation processes focusing on pressure, temperature, levels, and flow
• Analytical and measuring devices
• Oil and gas production processes and techniques
• Troubleshooting techniques
• New energy technologies on the horizon and how they are addressing critical environmental issues around the globe
You'll study the PCET basics (including algebra, chemistry, and basic physics) and have several opportunities to work with computer simulation models in our hands-on skills labs.
Coursework is in accordance with the standardized curriculum developed by the Center for the Advancement of Process Technology (CAPT). CAPT, based in Texas, is funded by the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Program, which is part of the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Imagine yourself at the heart of it all, as a trained professional with responsibility for helping to ensure the smooth operation of an entire manufacturing or production plant! (br>
You may have the opportunity to work in busy settings like petroleum refineries, pulp and paper manufacturing plants, food processing plants, power generation plants, wastewater treatment facilities, or chemical manufacturing concerns.
Take advantage of this opportunity to learn the fundamentals of this important field and pursue your career prospects in production and manufacturing settings.** Remington College's 24-month PCET associate's degree program could be the perfect way to power up a rewarding new future.
