Indiana and the Economy
Like many other states, Indiana suffered from economic challenges over the past year, with the decline of the U.S. automotive industry playing a large role. But state economists say it is on the rebound, with stability and incentive programs helping to stabilize businesses and keep them profitable.
Career Outlook in the Hoosier State
Some of the biggest contributing industries to Indiana's job market include agriculture, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and real estate. According to projections from the Indiana Department of Labor, some growing and profitable occupations between now and 2016 include postsecondary education managers (15.6 percent increase), social and community services managers (21.9 percent increase), management analysts (23.3 percent increase), and computer systems analysts (25.4 percent increase). The Indiana workforce, overall, is expected to increase by 7 percent between 2008 and 2016.
