Massachusetts has consistently enjoyed higher personal incomes per person, as well as an unemployment rate lower than the national average. Even in light of an economic downturn, projections from the Massachusetts Department of Labor, found that Massachusetts' economy should remain profitable and increase by 6.3 percent between 2006 and 2016.

Within this landscape, the job market should remain strong in finance, health care, biomedical technology, manufacturing, and more. According to the Massachusetts Department of Labor, professional, scientific, and business services (18.1 percent) and educational and health services (16.8) percent should see the greatest industry growth.
