The second state to join the Union, Pennsylvania has long been host to a profitable dairy industry. Later it became home to steel manufacturing, but in recent years developed a more balanced economy based on agribusiness, technology, health care, chemical products, and tourism.

The Keystone state draws visitors to its historical sites as well as busy economic mainstays of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie, Reading, and Scranton. Business and management sectors play a large role in the economy, as do the high tech, education, and health care industries.
