A career in law puts you on justice's side. There are a variety of careers available in this field, nearly all of which require college degrees, ranging from associate's to juris doctor degrees. Online degrees are available for these positions--add in some career training and you're on your way without having to take time off from work or family.
Career Training in Law
- Lawyers--including trial, bankruptcy, probate, international, and environmental--start their career training with four-year college degrees, followed by three years of law school. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that lawyers took home a median annual salary of $124,750 in 2008
- Judges need career training plus at least a bachelor's degree--though other, higher-level college degrees are often preferred. Elected or appointed, judges made a median annual wage of $100,450 in 2008 according to the BLS
- Paralegals made a media $48,790 annually. You can qualify for a position in this field with an associate's degree
Working in law can be as difficult and time-consuming as it is rewarding. It may not be for the faint of heart, but it's a great choice for the driven.
