Student finances: Today's students are poor, yet optimistic

When AP-Viacom released the results of their survey on youth in education a couple of weeks ago, one thing became strikingly apparent: today's students are just as affected by the recession as their parents are. Despite their financial struggles, though, students are managing to maintain a positive outlook regarding their own futures—an outlook that involves putting faith in higher education.
The following visual vividly contrasts the financial struggles that plague America's students with the hopefulness they feel regarding their post-collegiate futures. Is this hopeful attitude testament to the value of an education?
